Presentations on Community Wastewater Treatment System Study Scheduled
The Town of Old Lyme has scheduled two Public Presentations on its proposed Wastewater Management Feasibility Study.
The Public Presentations, scheduled for Monday, March 25 at 7:30pm and Saturday, March 30, at 11am, will provide a brief history and overview of the project as well as a question & answer period.
Old Lyme First Selectwoman Bonnie A. Reemsnyder explains that the Board of Selectmen is in support of the feasibility study “because it will provide us with information we need to make fiscally sound and environmentally safe decisions for the residents of our community.”
The Feasibility Study, to be performed by Woodard & Curran of Cheshire, will evaluate the wastewater treatment needs of residential areas along our shoreline. The evaluation will consider wastewater treatment alternatives that comply with current public health code standards and offer long-term protection of public health and the environment. The study will provide a detailed evaluation of potential community system sites and make recommendations for a long-term community wastewater management program.
The Feasibility Study will address potential impact to both homeowners and Town infrastructure; environmental impact; and both short and long-term costs for the design, construction, and annual operations of a community system. Feasibility Study costs are eligible for 55% reimbursement through the Clean Water Fund.
Information about the Feasibility Study will be posted as it becomes available on the Town of Old Lyme website: www.oldlyme-ct.gov, under Current Projects.
Both Public Presentations will take place in the Meeting Hall of the Memorial Town Hall.
